I love the metaphors of lies cutting like a knife and leaving scars, because they do. And your use of the age old saying "talk is cheap" fits well with the analogy. Because someone who is ok lying to (and hurting) you cheapens the value of their words, and the apology is worthless. |

This poem travels to some dark places. It is indicated that the person descibed in the poem is in someway victimized. In one read of it, the lines "damage you caused within" and "hallmarks of my shame" Seem to put a deep focus on mental abuse. Damage was done to this person that goes beyond the surface level, and cuts deep. |
