Daddy Told Me About You

by Bleu   Mar 25, 2018

Eight years old
Sitting on my daddies knee.
He said, "Baby girl, let me tell you
That love is like a tree."

Such a young age,
I was not too sure what he meant.
But as he spoke,
I got the hint.

"Love is like a tree,
when both sides try,
that tree stands tall and strong.
But let me tell you what happens when all of the
struggles are shoved to one side.

The tree snaps,
the weight it tries holding snaps it right in two.
Do not ever allow a man to
think that everything is all on you."

Love is like a tree, that stands tall and strong.
I thought I knew the answers all along.
But, it seems that daddy forgot one thing.
Even if both sides try,
there is still going to be pain.

    Love is like a tree

Love has many branches, this your daddy knows
from a healthy branch a fruit or two will grow

If the branch becomes a burden, there may be a sound
as the unsupported limb falls unto the ground.
