Words as Blades

by Karin Erlacher   Mar 31, 2018

When one continues to push,
that's when the other one pulls.
It's in this chaotic adrenal rush
we find our arsenals are full.

Whether it's accusations,
or forgotten bombs of truth,
these hateful sensations,
handed out like kisses at a booth.

Rapidly fired explosions,
quickly followed by regret.
Shrapnel cuts deeper than the ocean,
creating scars we'll never forget.

Repeated phrases instead of fists,
taking blows to the heart,
navigating through a blinding mist,
allowing anger to tear us apart.

Words slice as readily as blades.
Not so random acts of violence.
This uncontrollable rage
is followed by deadly silence.

Really well expressed Jayde, I guess we're all guilty of this at times. Great rhyming too :-) x
