Still Lonely Here

by Mark   Apr 16, 2018

It is lonely over here
in a corner dim, with the bar a-brim;
ranting in swill as froth suds spill, yet I perch still
for neither beer nor cheer, quench my morose leaden sphere.
Nestled in rear – still, still lonely over here.

I wistful out - to the shore
that tiding sea, swell comfort on me,
for bubbling spume may cleanse n' groom my wreathy loom
by Poseidons' lore, drench me - I implore! That I languish no more, but very, very lonely by the shore.

I splay to the moon
let celestial light pierce me a-bright
that illuminate rain, purge the incumbent strain of enfeebling pain
I mope to swoon in rays of boon.
Near a sparkling dune - ever still lonely, lonely by the moon.

I get dreadfully dreary
so then I retreat, to an abode of sleet;
frigid as the daze pulsing this maze, upon my heart - it frays
too numb to be teary, bleak an ill-weary.
At night it is eerie, so, so lonely in this dreary.

    Judging Comment - Still lonely here by Mark points 7 - the title made me believe this piece was about being lonely as in with nobody to love then I read the piece itself (many times might I add) and realised that infact this, or so I think, is about depression and I have to say though this is a saddening piece it was beautifully penned with some extremely powerful imagery. Unfortunately depression can make us feel like we're all alone even if we're surrounded by people who love us.

    I am lost for words but in the words of Bon Jovi... To say I'm not alone doesn't mean I'm not lonely. I totally get this
