Could I fly if I had wings?
Could I be free if I took the chance?
I wonder a lot of thing, and they all begin with “Could I”
Could I get a tattoo if I had the guts?
Could I swim through quicksand and not get stuck?
Could I open my heart and not get hurt?
Could I raise my voice, if it meant I’d be heard?
Maybe “Could I” is not the question
But “Would I” are the words
That I have been looking for in my jumbled, mixed up brain
Would I have wings?
Would I take a chance?
These are my questions
Would I? Not Could I?
Would I have the guts?
Would I not get stuck?
Would I avoid being hurt?
Would I ever be heard?
Do you see how simple words
Can change how a sentence forms
So for your next line
Don’t think about the “if’s”, “but’s”, or even the “Could I’s?”
But think to yourself, “Would I?”
