Just say it (spoken word)

"Just tell her"
"It's not that difficult"
"It's a simple statement."

Day in. Day out.
I am reminded about the simplicity
Of the phrase
"I love you."

So simple. Those three words.

Three syllables.

Three phonetic symbols that have symbolized the symbiosis of souls for centuries.

And yet, they are not enough.

Nothing, no word, no phrase,
no monument to your name,
no song or psalm,
no picture nor poem,
can ever, ever, amount to
all of the awesome emotions
that you have instilled
into the very fabric of my being.

I have tried to conjure a concoction
of consonants that can create a
clearness in my conscience,
such that I can then have the audacity
to tell you that I love you.

But I can't.

If I were to tell you "I love you",
it would be insulting.

Because you deserve more than those phrases,
more than all the creations of man.

You deserve to be carried in a chariot
on a bed of roses,
you deserve to be lifted high above the ground
so that you would not have your skin
touch the tainted world
beneath your feet.

you deserve to have your atoms dispersed across the universe, so that it can be blessed by the blissfulness of your beauty.

And yes, I have also delved deep into the scientific method in order to devise a working theory that can hopefully explain to thee just how much you mean to me.

But even that is not enough.

I look at the stars and I realize that you will always outshine them.

I traverse the galaxies and realize that your eyes have more gravity in them.

For they always pull me towards you.

I reach the edge of the universe and come to the conclusion that this conundrum is not as complex as a figment of your imagination.

I would go through the lives and deaths of a million more universes
if it meant that I would at least be
an inch closer to telling you that.....

I love you.
