Ankerwycke (Trois-par-huit)

by Darren   May 6, 2018

Flora beast
the planter long deceased
survived battles by cannon then planes

seen birds born, children christened, fire, steel and bloodstains
lived through frost, snow, a winter blanket, heavy rains
cried for others, burnt like candlewick

Yew stood proud, tall and thick
Ankerwycke

I do love an old yew tree. This one is spectacular, though it is too wide for to hug.

    Well done on this form.
