Oh D'arcy (420 unfriendly)

by CJ Maleney   May 16, 2018

You know I love you son,
But look what you've become.
See what you are doing,
And how much you're scaring mum.

That toxic filth that you inhale,
Changes something thats inside.
Your sister won't come near you,
And the dog seeks a place to hide.

You say you're not addicted!
But I fear you've passed this stage.
If we won't give you money for weed
You fly into a rage.

You become aggressive and violent,
But not when I am home.
Because you know if you squared up to me
I would drop you like a stone.

This has always been a home for you,
And not just somewhere that you live.
But when things get smashed and broken,
Then something has to give.

I bought an iPhone for your birthday,
But in another temper fit.
When you couldn't get money for weed,
You smashed the thing to bits.

You're 18 years of age now,
So in the eyes of law a man!
You need to stop smoking that poison
But I'm not sure that you can.

That mind altered state that you inhabit,
Has led you to the police.
From the stupid reckless things you do,
When with that hazy, smoke filled beast.

Your opinions and thoughts are twisted,
I would expect better from a child.
And even when coherent,
We await Jekyll and Hyde.

I don't know what to do for you,
Perhaps it's time you made your way.
This is not something that I desire,

But something needs to change!

CJ tackles a difficult issue in this. As having watched a loved one struggle with addiction myself this one struck a chord with me. It's painful to watch someone you love and care for falling, especially when you know that quitting is their choice and you can't make it for them. You're words were beautiful and I could feel the love and pain behind them.

I know my comment may be out there but... in this day and age if your son is only on weed there may still be hope for him...

It's not really out there as such.

I'm a biker so I know a few guys who smoke, those that do won't touch the latest strains of the drug as they are so potent and are not conducive to productive thought process. These strains are additive and the come down is apparently horrible.

They are largely viewed as a stepping stone drug.

I just wish my son (who shares the same name as you with the exception of the ' ) had your intelligence.

      Regards
