I starved and struggled
while you were bursting bubbles...

I faced the troubles
not for learning vowels...

I worked with shovels
while you were reading novels...

I starved for hours
while you were having your supper in a bowl...

I became an owl
and lived in a hovel..
while you slept in your tower...

It was cold and I had nothing to cover,
while you were warm with your coat on over...

This was all because I was poor...
