Mothers sun (sonnet)

by Michael   May 21, 2018

Farewell at last to winters frosty sting
and all the chilly times of snow and sleet
upon a throne now sits our summer king
as winter has to step down and retreat.
The sunrise comes to play a soulful zing,
a graceful tune that stirs a whistled tweet;
an early sound of birds that love to sing
my spirit lifts and brings me to my feet.
I feel the steps are now back in our spring
the wind pervades a breeze of mellow heat
I twist and twirl within his golden wing
so long i’ve waited for this summer treat.
I hope he’ll stay in further days to come
so all can dance beneath our mothers sun
