High School

They say that
you will miss this place,
and that
these are the best
years of your life.
I disagree
with that statement
as those four years
were not my favorite.
High school
is overrated
in my opinion.
You are stuck
in a shell
that is not yours,
and you are not allowed
to grow.
Those years
were some of my worst,
and personally
there's a whole life ahead
that is much more enjoyable
than an institution
where you cannot be
your true self.
I found
that college is a place
where I can be
exactly who I am supposed to be,
and that high school
tried to contain
the person that I've always been.
They say that
you'll want to go back,
but it's been almost three years
and I will never miss
high school.
