Disconnected

by Phoenix ¥   May 28, 2018

How long can I carry on
Going through the motions,
Numb in my mind
disconnected from emotion.

My head is on a walk
A long, long way from here.
With the one I love
While he is nowhere near.

Can they see the empty shell
Sitting round the table
Trying her best to interact
But becoming increasingly less able.

I’m trying to make it work
And keep us all together
I don’t want to cause the pain
That could haunt you all forever.

Instead I carry on
Disconnected from it all
A shadow of the real me
Destined for a fall.

Well written piece of poetry. There's nothing worse than suffering and having to put on a show of happiness at the same time just to protect others.

    Take care
