Painting over the cracks

by Darren   May 29, 2018

Shattering mind breaks
like glass smashed from up high
lightning forks racing, desecrating
still beautiful, remaining partially reflective,

my memories the paint, poured
mixed haphazardly, marbled
brushed without confidence
the excess raining, splashing.

I jump onto a droplet
ride it to the floor, hair and paint swept,
oh such g-force, such freedom
the impact scatters me.

From unconsciousness I spy
my canvas primed
yet my self portrait
merely a question mark.

Painted over cracks
missing the point.

This really does sound like the process of a mind fracturing Darren. A warped mind trying to paint a metaphorical self portrait but being too scattered to put it all together. Excellently written! :-) x
