M.A.D

by Blank   Jun 1, 2018

Mutually. These buttons are pressed and these bombs are dropped.

Assured. That these weapons of war will leave nothing behind. The race will end, this very night.

Destruction. Is what these superpowers bring. Leaving nothing behind.

This almost happened. Years ago, in a Cold War, that lasted for what seemed an eternity.
It didn't happen then. But it still could happen now.

Authors note: A little context for those who might not know, Mutually Assured Destruction, or M.A.D is the term used to describe the event of atomic bombs being dropped. This was one of the main fears during the Cold War. The superpowers being the USA and the USSR.
I love history, so I decided to make a poem out of it, definetly not an amazing poem, and probably could be better. Feedback appreciated.

The risk of war is ever present throughout history due to the ego's of a minority in power. Unfortunately they are usually the ones who have a nice comfortable escape route or ensure that they are stood at a safe distance away from danger.
A clever acrostic that reminds us that the risk is never far away even in todays times. Milly x

It's ashame, the ones who control their armies and fire their weapons won't even be affected.
      The soldiers fight.
      The generals are rewarded.

A clever acrostic containing important historic information.

War is horrific and consequently the emotions describing it should be too.

I completely agree, I am against war completely.
