Our Story

by Hellon   Jun 20, 2018

...and, I shiver as
I watch the last leaf fall
and slowly drift in
the wind that winter
brings...

it was our tree for many a year...

we laughed, read, ate apples,
hiding under the canopy
of its summer splendor.

Yes, we thought the world
was our oyster then and time was
something only old people worried about

but...

that was not to be in
our story...

Elegant, lovely poem! I think trees are quite symbolic, and you paint a rebatable and sad story here. The metaphor of things around us ending is always a poignant one
