To Andrea (Maple Tree)

by Larry Chamberlin   Jun 21, 2018

She has a secret smile;
it could be from anything
that nobody else could see
she’s happy enough to sing.

She has a secret life
apart from the mundane
walks in the daylight
through our pouring rain.

She has a secret strength
she doesn’t fall down;
rises to each occasion
in graceful lacy gown.

She has a secret sorrow
bears it with aplomb
gives her heart to all
skips to secret hum.
