The Serial Killer; Cancer

by Maple Tree   Jun 22, 2018

Cancer becomes a cruel stalker of the night-

abducting our children and loved ones
as we speak of plans for the future.

we turn our heads for one moment;
faces we love more than the sun vanish
while the moon takes over-
violated and numb,
we become gutted
not knowing why.

to watch a child deteriorate, from chubby cheeks
to bony limbs, pale skin and lifeless eyes...

Is a torture I cant explain,
and yet they fight....and fight....and fight
a tug of war with demons

all we can do is watch.

Words nestle under our tongues
bitter poison rages within
because we are so sick of seeing them suffer...

but when your child begs you to be strong
for one more day because she wants to see you smile,
you lower your head softly and say;

"Ill see you tomorrow my girl"

one of these days tomorrow wont be granted
and the winner of this sick game will move on
to it's next victim, leaving a mother alone,

with

tears

In

her

eyes

    Dear Anrea I can't begin to imagine but I feel your pain from one mother to another. Life isn't fair and I often wonder why do all these children or young people have to suffer. Their life has not even begun. I guess we will never have the answer to that. Faith keeps me going and I know you are strong even at times you need someone strong for you. The battle is not over until it's over. Hugs to you
