The Tower of Babel (Losing You)

by Love   Jul 3, 2018

We spoke in tongues.
The kind that,
Only two entwined souls,
Made upon Gods image,
Could only understand.

We became fluent that way.
In the art,
Of only each others love.
But somehow...
At the same time,
I felt like a foreigner,
Inside of my own body.

It was as if,
Every single part of me,
Molded into you.

But, my love...
When you left me,
On that fateful day;
It felt like the God's cursed me...
Into a cruel punishment,
In which I could not understand.

For he burned down my ivory tower,
Turning everything that we once were,
Into some devastating, prophetic warning.

In a way, we became...
The Tower of Babel;
All over again.

(And now, you don't even know me...)

    Judging comment:

    By having used language as the symbol of love, when I first read this, I was instantly in love with this, and approaching towards the end, I had taken to Google this tower of Babel the poet speaks about (because I wasn't aware of it until then). Upon learning, the variety in which the poet used this concept was marvelous. I was in all praise. Wonderfully used and written.
