More than this

by Walter   Jul 3, 2018

You know it's really sad
That you say we can't be friends
Because you're wanting more
Than my heart could ever send

I've known you for a while
We've been through thick and thin
Since that first day you came knocking
I've always let you in

We made each other smile
With the things we had to say
But now it seems so complicated
With the words you send my way

When I was feeling down
In a place I didn't want to be
I was so happy that I found you
And that it wasn't only me

And not once did I ever
Take advantage of your state
When we were both so vulnerable
I never tried to seal our fate

And you mean so much to me
Always treated you with respect
But it's funny that this now seems
The feeling that you reject

Is there really some sort of rule
That states how we belong?
Just because you are a girl
Does it make this all so wrong?

I don't want to lose a friend
But I can't give any more
If this has now become the reason
Why you're knocking on my door

Kind of catch 22 really you want to but don't want to because the friendship means more to you than anything else but if seems she's abusing that which is frustrating! As usual great rhyming
