It Needs To End

You try to close the coffin
But the thing inside wants out
It claws and scratches at the lid
How it screams and how it shouts

You want to sink it in the earth
So it won't see the light of day
But the creature you have in that box
Simply will not fade away

It's clever, cunning and devious
It will skulk in silence for a while
This is but a temporary state of being
It holds too much evil and too much bile

You give in to the obvious fact
That to kill it you must fight
You have to end it once and for all
You're resigned to snubbing out it's life

This really shouldn't fall to you
But somehow you have been drawn in
To a world of malice, pain and suffering
Just how did this begin?

Evil comes in many forms
It often hides within plain sight
But when eventually it revels itself
You must do what is just and what is right

So you take a breath and open the box
And you see the vile thing rise
Hold your will, show not fear but strength
Then watch the light fade from its eyes
