Highborn

Ravens drift to sunshine
like a taboo superstition upon
unholy lips,
scandalous -
travelers gossip
as they conjoin together
becoming Siamese twins.

Tucked upon a shelf
like a soft, satin napkin
she glistens during an azure dawn
as if to showcase her diadem smile
and majestic edges,
ending with a midday extravaganza
of food, wine and melody.

A mixture of night versus day
sincerely romantic -
a glass slipper makes
its final toast; capturing
the historic event;

Discrimination shadows
a sanctuary union
while bigotry scatters a nation
to become a massive treasure hunt;

and all they wanted was to kiss
within the privacy of their own hearts.

    So complicated, to be so simple. So alive, to be so private.
    I liked the peripheral view beyond the kiss..
    Well done.
