Confessions of a Firefly

by Mortal Utopia   Jul 17, 2018

For a reason I can't explain,
I was always so afraid
to come too close
to your gentle glow -
always so kind, so caring, so radiant,
so far from what I will ever be.

But since
I failed to evade you tonight,
maybe I should tell you something:

really, thank you
for seeing the light in me, when all I saw
was the darkness in my heart; thank you
for flying beside me when all I thought
was...

...don't worry,
it really doesn't matter, after all.

Firefly's are captivating and spiritual within certain spirituality.
To guide and watch over, to fill a dark filled night with peace.
Using the firefly as a metaphor is very creative and touching to the
person in which the author is speaking of. Just beautiful

Sometimes, I feel that you are replying to someone through these poems.

Like, someone on pnq has posted a poem and you replied back to that person through such beautiful words.

There is beauty in your poems. That's what make them special for me, and for everyone else.
