Shock

by schmetterling   Jul 20, 2018

I am so sorry
that you felt
this way.
You did not deserve
to leave
so soon.
You brought light
to everyone's day,
and we all
felt comfortable
when you were around.
But now,
you're gone.
If only we had known
you were this close
to the end.
Maybe we could've
helped you more,
but you probably thought
it was too late for help,
and maybe you just
didn't want help anymore.
You left behind
two daughters,
a wife,
and an entire workplace
that cared about you.
I understand why you did it,
I just wish
that you didn't.
We miss you terribly,
and we will continue
to do so.
I never would have thought
we would lose you
like this,
but mental illness
does not discriminate.
It will affect
any and everyone
that it can.
I wish
we could've helped you,
so you could get better
and have lived
a long, happy life.
Instead,
you are now six feet under.
You will not be
just a memory to us,
I promise.
