regrets

by the color green   Jul 25, 2018

tears come out of the lacrimal glands,
from above the upper eyelids
and over the eyes.

tears drain through the lacrimal ducts,
the tiny tubes running between
the eyes and the nose.

when the ducts can't drain all the tears,
the tears exit through
the eyes and the nose.

but once they come out,
where do they go?

when the tears drip down the face
and no one wipes them away,
do they evaporate into the air
or dry up and stay?

I love the questioning of this, how it's technical in the beginning of the "journey" of tears, yet that sorrowful tone in the end when you have this image of no one wiping away the tears... of them just falling. I've definitely been in that position in the past where the tears dry ON my face, and I wonder if others notice or not.

Thoughtful, heart tugging piece. Hope to see more pieces from you, keep writing!
