maroon, and mottled.
stem worn thin.
beyond congealed.
it rattles dry
and stiff.

its photoplastic altitude;
its pellicle, and brume
have burned their steam.
or stormed out
into wind-knows-where

and isn’t it just so...
a little piece
falls in the sock:
You turn It inside out
then shake
