Twilight memories (Rondeau)

by Michael   Aug 8, 2018

..as twilight fades in light of dawn
I will forever weep and mourn
your lullabies came from the moon
and stars came dancing in my room
throughout the night until the morn

your heart sang out when I was born
gloaming words so sweet and warm
your voice but now a distant tune
... as twilight fades

i wish you here in times forlorn
with lunar songs to calm the storm
some nights i sit beneath the moon
knowing the day will be here soon
and once again i’ll weep and mourn
... as twilight fades

I was in two minds about awarding this a 10 or 7 points, purely because I am no expert on writing a Rondeau. In fact I have never written one. So I looked at this from a different POV and I am judging this on the content. I love the depth of feeling in this piece, it is cleverly written and the rhyming is used well. As you read it conjures many images, a piece of colorful poetry. Well written 10 points.

(in fact I did attempt one and I am still dismayed by the form.)
