on smashing glass

by c. a. williams   Aug 12, 2018

let us sit behind wanting eyes and
watch tears tear flesh

(you are but one slash
at hope)
deafen me with the din of
smooth kisses

to want the sea to come crashing
sweetly on my tongue
dark and sensuous
is to coax my instability

I feel the blood-red scratches spilling
into the sky
spilling into me
and laugh while drinking in
the rage of your storm.

Like an eye of a hurricane. ..

    Calming understanding and loving.
