hello, can anybody hear me..?

by Mr. Darcy   Aug 14, 2018

Can you hear that whining sound up there;
A constant sound I've taught myself to bear.

As a boy the sound, at times would modulate -
Is this is how aliens communicate?

Slap! My head would jerk with an impact.
A heavy hand of punishment from my dad.

Mum would join in too, it brought them joy
to abuse the three of us: one girl, two boys.

The ringing now I know is, Tinnitus.
Caused from the daily damage served to us.

I've learned to find a peace within the noise;
A place I choose to love my inner voice.

    Mr D has written a heart breaking piece this week that deserves recognition. It is a brave write. You can't help but feel for him and admire his strength of character to not only share this piece but share his strength. I don't him well but from reading his poetry I can see that he is a well rounded caring individual. Love the double meaning in the title as well, points to not only his condition but also how he must have felt as a child. (7 points)

    A very thought provoking poem and something I understand to a degree.

    I wouldn't lay one finger on my kids despite my own personal experience..

    In a strange way my own experience altered of and in some ways made me bicester person. It obviously has done this to you also. I think we aspire to be better than them.

    Thank you for writing this and sharing.
