Walls

by Tasha   Aug 29, 2018

The walls built up around me,
I tore down to let you through
Because somehow you convinced me
My life would be better with you.
I let you see me inside,
The good goes with the bad.
I no longer felt the need to hide
The feelings that I had.
But I didn't let anyone else in
I didn't have the chance
I was completely open
You caught me in your trance.
We built our walls up together,
but mostly with your bricks.
To me that meant forever
To you: I needed to be fixed.
So I just let it happen
Whatever it takes to make you smile
But you certainly had a talent
For making me feel like I'm on trial.
And now that time has passed
I've watched you making walls all on your own.
Slowly blocking me out
Making it easier to let me go.

Tasha, I am sorry to read that it turned out like this for you.
From a poetic point, though, I do like the easy rhyme and flow of this piece.

All the best and do take care,
    Ben

Thanks Ben I actually wrote this from the perspective of someone I care about having a hard time. Words are easier for me to use than it is for them.
