It's still empty here.

by Poet on the Piano   Sep 6, 2018

You were never that loud,
almost always asleep
with your head propped up,
but I keep wanting to ask
where you are.

I still fall asleep
next to a companion,
but these nights continue
to be restless -
the morning tastes flat
in my mouth like the
sun's given up.

Because emptiness
can't be filled with just
anything,
when your absence makes
my whole world seem
colorless.

I find it very difficult to portray or analogize the feelings I have, especially those of loss.
You seem to convey these feelings with ease here, well written and very deserved win.
    More please
