Crush

by CJ Maleney   Sep 12, 2018

You have been part of my life for 30 years and oh how we've been part of each other!

You filled me, you were in my lungs with the air I breath.
You flowed within me and pulsed through my veins.

So so young when we first met.
Too stupid, too naive to know just how toxic you were and are.

Never trust the seductress!

Six years apart seemed easy but I failed again.
You came back into my life with a hold so strong I could never have anticipated.

We part company once more,
This parting is not easy and your absence affects
body and my mind.

This time it's harder!

My temper flares and my teeth grind.
Sleep is even more broken than before
My sunrise is not the same without you.

Yet I am determined to eliminate you from my life.
Perhaps I will stumble at times but you shall be gone.

You are crushed.

CJ you should write more poems in free verse. You write in depth and detail. There was a short poem written by you which won the weekly contest. Regarding the rhyme and acrostic format, you are just too good at them already.

Craig - It seems we are all addicted to something and wish we could crush it.
I would like to personally wish you all the best in destroying this habbit. I do hope you manage to succeed as long as it is truely what you want :)

It is and already I'm feeling benefits. No cough in the morning.

However my temper is rather shorter than the short fuse it already was.

      Regards

Craig, if I hadn't read the comments I would have thought you were talking about a woman. Cigarettes are so hard to quit. I did 20 years ago, I haven't regretted it, I only regret doing it in the first place. Stay strong!

Me too, I'll get there and when I do I'm gonna defy the specialist and try running again. I miss it.
