A Fledgling’s First Flight

by Catchy   Sep 15, 2018

Dearest blue fledgling of a worn old tree
Shaking with wondering eyes
Are you done and ready to flee?
Finish your meal before you fly

Meek and sheltered you are
Fragile, sweet and dear
Fate awaits you from afar
In uncertainty, you fear

Whilst you take a deep sigh
Nervous, scared of first flight
Don’t be afraid to try
And soar the tallest heights

But careful little fledgling
The forest’s unsafe and vast
The predators are waiting
To pounce and devour fast

And it isn’t always sunny
You’ll soon learn to do just fine
The world is yours and free
In time, you will shine

Dearest blue fledgling of this worn old tree
Shaking with wondering eyes
You’ve waited long patiently
Now, you are ready to fly
