Through The Eyes Of A Child (innocence)

by CJ Maleney   Sep 27, 2018

Through the eyes of a child the world is beautiful and bright.
The eyes of a child will always see light.
Through the eyes of a child the world is so filled with awe,
The eyes of a child will always seek more.

The eyes of a child should not see malice or hate.
The eyes of a child should see love gravitate.
The eyes of a child sometimes see what they should not.
The eyes of a child see caring forgot.

The eyes of a child take in every expression.
The eyes of a child take this as a lesson.
Through the eyes of a child I wish to see what could be.
Through the eyes of a child, before my eyes made me me!

Through the eyes of a child we should look and should think.
The eyes of the child see us pushed to the brink.
The eyes of a child we can not hide behind.
Through the eyes of a child adults are blind!

I dont have children but from what I have observed small children always seem so exited about things and observe so much more than parents realise they do an excellent piece that captures very well the attributes of a child. Milly x

      Thank you Mills

I'm glad you liked this. For me this poem is something of a double edged sword. Children see the world as a magical place of wonder if they are lucky. However some see and experience things that they really shouldn't have to.

I loved it when my son was little and would notice and question things that I'd long since stopped seeing awe in. A child's point of view is magical and you've captured that perfectly here Craig. Brilliant! I'm sad I've run out of nominations :-) x

      Thanks Mad Cat Lady.

I love seeing my little nephews reaction when he sees something new and exciting.

His eyes go wide and it's like "what is that?"

Children are like sponges: they soak up what the world around them. Unfortunately, the world is not perfect, far from it!
Children are born innocent and I love their fresh perspective of the world. This is the world we no longer see. Our blindness is the gift we sadly pass onto them.

I don't think they inherit our blindness per say. I do think however that as we grow all the wonderful things are Obscured by the bad.
