Spring II

by Hellon   Oct 2, 2018

Wind gust topples nest
eggs shells shattered on concrete
all that is left now.

Willy wag-tail squalls
his chicks alas but a dream
nature can be cruel.

*I'm devastated to say the least :(

Such an elegantly written string of haiku and yet so sad.
Nature can be so beautiful and breathtaking and then be devastating.

Hellon brings this reality to the front, reminding us of beauty and
sorrow all wrapped into one beautiful poem. Powerful!

In my daughter's back yard a pair of Blue Jays built nests each year with disastrous results. Some years the wind, some years just their faulty construction, but it was only after four or so years that they managed to learn how to build a sturdy nest that withstood all weather. Sometimes nature's lessons are harsh, but they must be learned.

I'm so sorry to hear, Hellon :(
But thank you for sharing this with us, and indeed... nature can be cruel. Sometimes we think intentionally when we just want that tiny seed of hope.

Sad to hear that Hellon. Nature has its own way of creating nurturing and destroying life. This poem reminded me of seeing the cctv footage. Hope nature did create life at my end.
