I truly enjoyed this poem hannah and it is probably my favorite of your return poems so far.

Alcohol makes people do a lot of crazy things, and so does love. Alcohol also makes people think they are more confident but when no one listens it can be truly heartbreaking. I do agree that heartstrings do break easier than bones because love is such a fickle thing to endure. The pain of heartbreak over and over again could lead to someone wanting wine every day. And I do believe that is where the first two stanzas fall into play.

Wine in general makes this person feel better so to speak and as I said above I believe over time this person has endured heartbreak and just wants to be heard, perhaps in a relationship their voice is nothing and that leads them to alcoholism to make the pain at least manageable.

I love the third stanza- because it all comes together nicely in my opinion. The alcohol you thought was helping, in the end makes you regret and think about all the decisions you have made. And each apology you or this person spews becomes more toxic to your ears, but you use those apologies to write, they fuel you.

Oof this ending is sad because I can relate to it well. You want to be honest about the pain you are feeling to a person close to you but you just want to hide in your depression. It seems like it makes it easier and doesn't complicate things.

I loved the metaphors and the wording because as always you are a great storyteller. No straying as usual. Excellent job.

Judging comment: Selective Hearing by Hannah Lizette points 7 - great usage of words and metaphors which really did grip me - I will add that I apologize for such a short comment but this piece fascinated me
