Butterfly

by Lilychu   Oct 10, 2018

In fear and panic I fly
As fast as my wings will go
As something is hunting me down
Whatever it is, I wouldn't know

I fly faster and faster into the woods
Until I need to stop
But when I look behind me
My heart begins to drop

I find the ghastly creature
Staring at me from afar
But when I move, just one fraction
It runs as fast as a car

I begin to run away again
Until I start to sweat
My breathing becomes heavier
And then suddenly caught in a net

I open my eyes to find
The creature has now caught me
I look into its glowing eyes
And whisper "Set me free,"

The creature does not acknowledge this
As they carry on with their journey
Until they enter a block of bricks
And lock the wood behind me

I begin to flap my wings
As I'm placed into a glass box
I just want out of this horrid place
And so I begin to knock

The creature leaves me alone
And so I'm very lonely
If only I could just magic right out
If only, if only

A lovely piece from the perspective of a butterfly. Imaginative and well written. Nice to see it's been nominated. Milly x

    Dani,

a wonderful story reflecting on you as being a butterfly in chaos. My heart was racing too reading this haha... but a well told poem, and great rhyming too.

It is with trepidation that I nominate this Dani as I feel that some may view my nomination as biased.

If they do sod em! You know how critical I can be and you know that do not mince my words or my actions.

So I nominate this because I love it. It is not something I or anyone of my age could have written me thinks. It is full of fantastic imagery from the mind of a young one. Which I think we lose over time.

    Well done you

    Dad.
