The figure

by Sweet Insanity   Oct 12, 2018

Brick by brick
She built her wall
High in the sky
So that she can't fall

Mending the pieces
That broke and shattered
And making it wider
With those that were scattered

A darkened tower
With out a door
With a single window
Praying she could soar

Free as the birds
That sing in the breeze
Most days it feels
As if her heart could freeze

Alone and isolated
In her broken tower
Her heart beat pounds
Every minute, every hour

She hears a thud on the wall
So faint and quiet
And sees a figure out there
Trying to pry it

"No! Leave it alone!"
She cried again and again
She didn't want to show
That she was in pain

The figure continued
Without any hesitation
"My child I won't leave you,
I'll protect you, let me in"

Brick by brick
The figure found a way in
"Come here my child,
I'm here til the end"

When the child reached out
The figure moved closer
And stepped into the light
The child saw it was her mother

Brick by brick
The tower came to a crumble
And her mother held her close
As they stood in the rubble
