Hand Me Down Minds

by Maple Tree   Oct 15, 2018

It's the thoughts of following others
that get mixed within thickets of closed
minds and twisted fantasy that brings me
too believe; we are a "hand me down"
government.

Second hand judgement from our fathers
before us, allowing closed doors to what we
dont understand; leaving the outcast lonely
and the scattered lost.

Nothing new, or fresh can be accepted anymore-

Hundreds, thousands of people finding their true identities
are left questioning "where do I fit in" and a government
standing before them; whispering

Nowhere-

tear drops scatter in places where the hugs live,
please find me, I'll be waiting....

This poem hurt my heart because I know this feeling all too well, of course I cannot speak for every single person, but I know what it is like to feel left out, not just by the government (because I am poor, legitimately) but by everyone whom I have ever come across. So that being said I feel the passion you have within this poem and how much it burns you up inside to see so many people hurting. This tells me that you have a kind heart and are willing to try to be there for anyone who needs someone. This is a great poem because it spreads the message that a lot of people are hurting because of the government, but also you know what it is like and when people find you, you will try to do what the government isn't. Well done
