Reflections

by Paul Hirst   Oct 17, 2018

I look into your eyes see the pain reflected there the pain caused by my selfish ways inside your tear filled gaze

Your green eyes now so blue framed in a scarlet hue asking what did I do
I see the hate for me there in your naked glare
I have to look away feeling the shame seeing who's to blame

Looking back at your face the tracks of your tears I can trace to your eyes still asking why did I make our vows a lie
Was she worth losing you and our children too
Why all the lies scream from those green eyes

And as more tears start to fall I stumble back into the wall I can't look at you no more
Turn away from the face in the mirror open the bathroom door
Stepping into the hall I hear your sobs through the bedroom wall

A strong piece that vividly depicts the destruction wrought upon loved ones by one persons selfish act of betrayal. Milly x
