The Poems Behind The Poets XlV:

by Scott Cole   Oct 23, 2018

(Despair)

In this my skin it's still empty here
So my silence must break the dawn,
But today it overflowed like broken vases
Yet my tears are not enough so I press on.

I keep turning back and looking forward
Lost and found taking only steps to get worse,
For my life as your teardrop is a perfect storm
And my mahagony rain is your wicked curse.

I can't seem to find my place in the world
Wish you were here to conquer that fear,
But it's just me myself thy and thee
And I'm not stronger than sorrow filled tears.

Some days I beg my creative madness to let go
And remove itself from my paper tomb,
So I can float in nature to the yonder green
Where you and me could forever bloom.

For I never once forgot your blessed blue eyes
How they fade in fade out so beautifully,
But I continue on looking past my wants
Knowing what breaks my heart lies in me.

I know I'm perfectly imperfect and I accept that
And my to be with you is wrapped within a wish,
But without a why or a gentle sad farewell
Our love that fills the universe is squished.

So for the sake of a loved one I will let go
For love in death is never quite the same,
Cause sometimes it's better to be dead to the world
Than to live in once green fields suffering in pain.

This is a true work of class by Scott.

He references so many works of others by not simply sticking title behind title or a line behind another, but by weaving them together with his own special twist.

What he has created in this process is something quite special and lovely. I suspect many who read this will feel rather honored and humbled when they see extracts of their own works within.

    Genius.
