Night Terrors

by Samantha   Oct 24, 2018

There are nights I lie in bed,
Staring at the ceiling, covers up to my chin.
Thoughts running wild, tears down my cheeks.

There are nights I lie in,
Walls caving in, minutes into hours.
Feeling my heart’s aches, my body’s protests.

There are nights I lie,
Talks of strength and confidence.
Cool breeze of pretense, goosebumps all over.

There are nights.
Shadows lurking, waiting to be found.
Battles of the mind, defeat’s pungent odor.

There are.
Too many nights, not enough days.
Moon’s glittery light, and the sun’s hidden rays.

Thank you! This means a lot to me. No one has ever read my poems before. This would be the first time.

I liked this piece and in particular the reduction down of the first line in each stanza. Milly x
