Comments : Raindrops and Emptiness

It's funny how the same scenario can cause such extreme and opposite emotions in us, depending on the circumstance: With your partner by your side, the rain at night as you lie in bed is comforting, homely and a pleasure because of the joy it brings them; without them there, though, all those ingredients are missing and so there is only the rain and 'emptiness'.
I have always found it terrifying how quickly a happy moment can become one of sadness. I suppose if you are that happy for a single reason, it stands to reason that - should that be taken away - you are equally unhappy.
Just an opinion, Larry, but I would word it "you have always loved" rather than "you always have loved" - to me, it just flows better. Not sure.

Anyway, take care and all the best,

    Ben

This is such a harsh poem. I miss your work so much. This unusual force in the words. No matter how simple.

I love how personal yet how deeply the reader can relate. The whole scenario is heart breaking. It's so hard to remember someone who's not next to you; by something they love.

And the bed was lonely without your joy.. This line killed it and killed me.

    I love it.
