A Truth

by JaM   Nov 10, 2018

What is truth?
Is it the actions we take,
or the words we break?

Is it what we lie about,
to ourselves?
Is it what we hide,
from others?

11 definitions exist,
to explain it's meaning,
yet none are the ones,
we are searching for.

"I'll believe it, when I see it"-
does that make it true?
"Actuality or actual existence"-
we don't see all that there is.

When I set about to find
the truth I've been chasing,
I look to know who I am,
in the face of this world.

I look to find answers,
that will keep me going;
I have chased truth,
and it's face is ugly.

Great poem question jaM. A troubled soul seeks answers that a troubled world cannot give, and that promotes anger that may lead one to big problems. There is only one "Truth Teller" and that is God, but the world preferers the darkness with all its temporary passing pleasures, which in the end leads to death.
    I have chased truth,
and it's face is ugly. Great line, because the ugly truth is unaccepted by many. 5/5
