A New Start

by Dominique Lewis   Nov 11, 2018

Kicked out of home and I am all alone,
Scared and homeless but that's not all,
Sadly pregnant and on my own,
But absolutely not the time to bawl.

Need to get off the streets,
Need to find a place soon,
No more hiding under the sheets,
No more playing such a sad tune.

Healthy baby girl with such a lovely smile,
Tiny fingers grasping onto mine,
Disappointingly still in exile,
But having her with me is just fine.

Roof over our heads and she's fast asleep,
Food in our bellies and finally at ease,
No more lonely tears to weep,
A new start and things finally freeze.
