The Dream of You

by ddavidd   Nov 20, 2018

I dream of you
in jazz.
I dream of you in the silken voice of an angel.
I dream of your in the deepest gorges of blooms,
in the longest beaks of hummingbirds.
I dream of you
in the colour of springs.
I dream of you
in the stems of cotton balls
blooming white in the fluff of my headrests.

I dream of you in diamonds:
in the Mountain and Sea of Lights.(1)
I dream of you
in the chandeliers' rains,
on the bridges of double rainbows.
I dream of you in the eagle eyes,
in the resupinate roots of my soul
in the dear horns.
I dream of you in the sealing of Sistine Chapel
I dream of you in the fire of Zarathustra
I dream of you in wings of flames
that moth swap with their wings at the gates of departure.
I dream of you in the veins of vines,
in the heart of my goblet.

I dream of you
in the blood of heroes
I dream of you in the shed blood of red roses
I dream of you in purple dragonflies
I dream of you in the death of my father.

I dream of you
there for I am.
I dream of you
therefor
you are!

Your language and poetry is better when you allow the images to breathe.

    ‘dream of you
in the stems of cotton balls
blooming white in the fluff of my headrests.’

    Is beautiful.

It’s a really nice write, actually. I would honestly erase the final stanza though. It’s almost comical, and unfitting in the context of the rest of the poem. Using exclamation points in general in poetry is always a bit awkward (for me).

Okay I might not agree with you everywhere here. but I shall think about it as try to implement those I deem right.s
The last stanza pushing the reader uncomfortable I know. I do it sometime as an addiction, purposefully trying to turn off the reader. The concept somehow goes with my mixture of new-age, Rumi, dialectic, background. If one has some familiarity with the believes might even enjoy them or at least ease his/her mind to them.

Thank you really for the honest critical respond. I welcome them when they are honest. I knew you were different and we could attempt at real conversation in our dialogues. I am glad I was right. And thanks for your time.
