For Silver

by D.   Nov 27, 2018

I imagined your
murder and it was
not the first
time,

blood coagulated
on the rug; a declaration
of love, dragged heels
through the mud.

I saw your silver ring
glimmer through the algae,

it did not feel like a dream.

I felt the same grief,
the same remorse

as you, for us.

We only share the moon
in this moment,
we are nothing but
bones in our
aftermath.

Well this is a powerful breakup poem... In my opinion just a very creative and intense way to express such a heartbreaking, tragic experience. My interpretation of course, it gave my powerful imagery and stunning words to help me picture the sorrow. I adore your ending (the moon for me will always be a link to who I am and has always been linked in some form within my life experiences...
