The Violin of the River

by ddavidd   Dec 14, 2018

Your smile,
the white queue of musical tone,
the jaws of piano,
the bitten apple of the moon,
and the appetite
of silence!

The bow of the wind
the violin of the river!

The teethed moon,
the hammock of crescent
between two
twilight poles!

The drunken dark river,
the savour of the apple
on the tongue of the night
the nectar of the music!

The white throne of jasmines
and the dark locks of the night,
the fragrance of whiteness
hovering above
and wavering on
the riverbed
of your pitch-black hair!

My favourite part of this piece is very much the final stanza. The imagery and metaphors are beautiful and so strong. It is a touching tribute to a beautiful being. Milly x

It's a great shame that this poem seems to have fallen into the great abyss of poetry that's posted in the 'blackout period' of the P&Q weekend and no longer has a nomination choice available...

You don't have to mention because I always hear music in your poems, and I wish they just keep on flowing like a river as far as possible or maybe for eternity.

    All the best!
