Secret Beauty

by Victoria Ramey   Dec 17, 2018

I was wrapped in vines of beauty and strength,

Blossomed with velvet hearts and shades of dreams,

I rooted my heart to the ground,

Feeding and consuming the earth around,

I drank the fluids that fell from the sky,

Inhaled the rays that the sun did provide,

I bloomed and grew each night and day,

To you it seemed im in perfect shape,

But the vines where horrors wrapped in sharp spines,

My heart was weakened by dreams that have lied,

The roots that i grew fed from poisonous fuel,

The fluids i drank where drowning my room,

The rays that i craved where burning my lungs,

Beauty has its own secrets and here it has won.

    Hi Victoria, and welcome. :)

You have a few typos here:

    ‘Weakend’ to ‘weakened’
    ‘Where’ to ‘were’

The first 7 lines you’ve written are really nice; they’re descriptive and flow quite nicely. Towards the end, the poem seemed a little rushed. I really liked your final line though - beauty does indeed have secrets!
