To Face Death Alone

by Hurtingsoul   Dec 17, 2018

Tell me you bloody love me one more time
Don’t let me go onto death marching
As a lonely soul without a partner
A halfling with no shadow

Comfort me in your arms. Please.
They don’t have to be warm or inviting
Pretend with me, act with me
Let me go face death an ignorant man

Whisper sweet nothings in my ear
Not all words have to be true
And even if they’re stoic or empty
Give my eyes one last look

Care for me… just a little while
You’ll never see me again, I promise
I cannot walk into the darkness
Knowing that, all this time, I’ve been alone

I know, I know I…know.
I deserve this
I don’t…I

Do you think I’ll get into heaven?
Will God let in a man who never earned love
But begged and pleaded and pretended
Alone, alone, alone.

I don’t… I don’t want to die
I don’t want to die
I don’t want to die
I want to stay
And love
And be loved
And love you

One more chance
Please, please, please.
Maybe you’d have loved me
Death shouldn’t be so lonely

---------------------------------------------------
Can you imagine what the last moments would be like
knowing in your heart that no one cared, that you will die alone?
