She Walks With Me

by Maple Tree   Dec 31, 2018

Collecting thoughts-
like stars inside a child's hand
daydreaming for miracles
within a night of darkness.

Removing emotion-
filling up my soul
with snowflakes,
dazzling winters chill.

Aging alongside a city-
fallen buildings, cracked sidewalks
and me, standing alone; smiling
because she lives another day.

I'll keep going, her fire is the light to my soul.
